You might ask yourself why I didn't post anymore projects.
The reason why is because I started to work for RINA from september 2009 in the yacht station of Viareggio, Italy.
RINA s.p.a. works mainly in the field of classification of ships, certification and advanced services to industry. In Viareggio there is an office that works exclusively with yachts and pleasure crafts.

47 feet Motoryacht Hard Top Style

This is my final project in the university.It's a motoryacht of 14,4 meters in lenght with a deep V hull shape with a deadrise angle at midship of 22.45°.

The design speed is 34 Kn achievable with 2 Volvo Penta IPS of 320 kW each.

Working in Rodriquez Cantieri Navali

Actually my task in this company was to work around the construction of the aluminum yacht C346 (40 mt) making all kind of jobs and modeling some parts of the boat too.

For example I've been asked to create the bulb, to modify the mast, to model the coverings for the exhaust hole, the arrangement of the sun deck.

The company has a shipyard too, so I could see how the boat was made and how the several parts I created with the computer were actually been built.

I worked also on the building drawings of the 41 meters aluminum yacht designed by Norman Foster and built by Rodriquez Cantieri Navali on the shipyard set in Ameglia, La Spezia (Italy).
It's a time-share (up to 8 owners) yacht built in series. Yacht Plus is it's name and it's also the name of the company that will take care of the bureaucratically aspects.
My task, as above, was assisting the building in site developing neat CAD drawings and aiding the design office with the realization of the ideas and the concept that were coming from the London office.

46 feet ARC Race Sailing Yacht

This is a group project we did in Southampton last year. It was me with other 3 students of Yacht and Powercraft Design. Our project was evaluated as the second best project.
The briefing was: a couple (the buyers) wanted a sailing yacht of 14-15 mt for the ARC race that is the crossing of the Atlantic ocean, leaving from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Left from Southampton, they would have reached Las Palmas to get onboard 4 friends. Hence the request was a boat of 6 berths. The couple then required a boat that, when the crossing was ended and they were arrived to Caraibbean, could be very manoeuvrable and adaptable to shallow water.
The project is very detailed. My task was the 3d modeling and many other small jobs.

42 feet Sailing Yacht

This is the first project made by myself.
It has been made with Rhinoceros, 3d modeling programme.
Hope you like it.I got a first in Arredamento Navale!
Here it is the technical data of the boat of 13 mt in lenght and the research.

The name of the boat is Goodfellow, that in italian means "Socio".

26 Giugno 2005: il Cerreto è domato!

La forza di andare avanti nei tratti al sole te la da vedere in lontananza una macchia d'ombra.

Prima parte della salita (quasi tutta al sole) devi cercare di tenere e arrivare fino alla lieve discesa che ti rida un po' di forze.
Seconda parte di salita devi tenere per cercare di arrivare alla fontana ghiacciata che ti rivitalizza. Da li in poi ci sono altri 3 chilometri al passo (5 al lago). In quei 3km finali ho mangiato 4 enervit.

Arrivo al passo...fame...ci sono due ristoranti...mi fiondo su quello davanti a me con il cartello "gelati artigianali"...per poco non entro con la bici nel ristorante...la gente mi guarda...entro (senza bici stavolta)..."datemi un gelato!"...il ristorante era gestito da handicappati...un'ora per avere un gelato...arriva un ragazzo..."due gusti 2 euro, tre gusti 2 e-e-e-e-e-e"..."e 50??"..."e-e-e 50"...un'ora anche a preparare un gelato..."ho venti euro"..."non hai degli spiccioli?"..."1 euro e 85"..."va bene lo stesso"...nel frattempo avevo già finito il gelato.

Dichiarazioni del compagno d'avventura:

Dopo due anni di attesa abbiamo tentato l'impresa: la certezza di farcela risiedeva solo nell'incoscienza che ci ha convinto a partire.

Partenza -con tutta calma- alle ore 10 di una domenica di fine giugno, dopo una colazione consumata davanti al telegiornale che annunciava la giornata come una delle più afose dell'anno. I primi chilometri vengono affrontati ad andatura blandissima, cercando di dosare le energie, tutt'altro che infinite. Subito dopo Ceparana ci rendiamo conto che il tragitto fino ad Aulla non è come ce lo aspettavamo: un continuo saliscendi tutt'altro che piacevole. Arrivati ad Aulla proseguiamo in direzione Fivizzano, e dopo pochi chilometri appaiono gli appennini, che si innalzano oltre le colline della Lunigiana: una visione suggestiva che distrae momentaneamente dalla noia di questo lungo trasferimento. Per i successivi 10/15 km la strada inizia a salire con più convinzione, fino ad arrivare ai 370 m di Fivizzano. Conclusi i primi 40 km in due ore scarse, decidiamo saggiamente di fare una pausa: stretching, ricarica delle borracce alla fontana e assunzione massiccia di doping. Dopo una ventina di minuti si riparte, la vera sfida inizia adesso: il cartello a bordo strada dice -18 km al passo, l'orologio indica le 12:30.

I primi chilometri appaiono abbordabili, il vero spettro è la lunghezza: il crampo è quotato ad 1.1. Intorno al quinto chilometro la pendenza si fa dura, andando presto oltre il 7%: è qui che troviamo a bordo strada la famiglia Rispoli, partita con un certo anticipo, intenta a gustare delle ciliegie. Ligi al dovere proseguiamo resitendo alla tentazione di fermarci. La salita è impegnativa, ma a renderla ancora più dura è il caldo: lunghi tratti al sole con temperature oltre i 25 gradi, il tutto senza un filo d'aria. Il contenuto delle borracce se ne va in fretta, e la speranza di trovare al più presto una fontana si fa viva. Intorno al dodicesimo chilometro la salita lascia spazio ad una lieve discesa, un piacere breve e beffardo visto che subito si rinizia a salire come e più di prima. E' a questo punto che mi ritrovo con una sola borraccia, riempita di semplice acqua, e temendo che non basti provo -e riesco- ad addizionarla con l'ultima magica bustina rimastami, il tutto senza scendere dalla bici: questa prova di equilibrismo fa si che io percorra diverse centinaia di metri senza pensare alla fatica, talmente sono concentrato nell'operazione. Grazie alla nuova benzina continuo ad andare su senza particolari problemi, ma alla vetta mancano ancora sei chilometri, che potrebbero diventare lunghissimi. Le forze calano progressivamente, e la forza di volontà serve a poco in questi casi, finchè al sedicesimo chilometro -quando ormai temevo il ritiro- capisco cosa si provi alla vista di un miraggio: a bordo strada vedo una fontana zampillante. Appena ci caccio sotto la testa capisco quanto sia reale e fresca. Dopo una doccia fredda ed una ricarica d'acqua ritrovo le forze per arrivare fino in cima: gli ultimi chilometri, per quanto duri, passano velocemente grazie all'entusiasmo che si fa via via sempre maggiore.

Dopo due ore di salita -unite alle due del trasferimento- siamo in cima, dopo aver percorso 60 km. Sono convinto che sarà un'impresa irripetibile, e forse anche per questo mi sono goduto così tanto questa pazzia!
